Steve Henry (D) Keeps Digging A Deeper and Deeper Hole...
So, if former Lt. Governor Steve Henry (D) didn't have enough to deal with concerning his secret, off-the-books campaign account, now it seems he may have a HIPAA problem.
Kentucky Women: Power, Passion and Politics, Diane L. Brumback
Sent Renee True the following email:
Ms. True,
I had the opportunity to meet and speak with you last month at the Kentucky Democratic Party headquarters. I was very impressed after that meeting.
As a determined advocate for women's participation in Kentucky politics, it is with mixed feelings but not hesitation that I call upon you to consider withdrawing from the Steve Henry/Renee True ticket.
As Fayette County PVA, you have a proven record of public service and have shown you are able to run a winning campaign. I believe that the past, present and future political problems surrounding Steve will have a damaging impact on your political future. Steve's political wrongdoing is not going away and in fact I fear a media firestorm is just beginning.
I have great respect for the Governor's seat; although not necessarily for the person occupying it at any given time. I personally hold those seeking to fill the seat to the highest standards. Politicians who are low on the trustworthiness scale and who capitalize on their skill in speaking half-truths or blatant lies, have no place in state government. To distance yourself from this ticket is imperative.
The question now is: will the finance complaint and Steve Henry's reported degrading remarks about the medical history of the woman who filed the complaint embody your campaign? It's astonishing clear that it will. Mr. Henry's obsessive flirtation with crossing the legal line is stealing oxygen from the perception that you are a credible candidate.
I implore you to consider withdrawing your name from this ticket. You have nothing to lose but have everything politically to gain.
In closing, I wish you the very best and hope you will give this careful consideration.
Regards,
Diane L. Brumback
