I first met Richard Dillon in Columbus Ky. when John Edwards came to that small town as a result of Shawn Dixon's efforts. I had been reading Dillon's post for a long time before that and was impressed as to how good this young man could write and his never ending zeal to change Kentucky for the better. Richard worked tirelessly in the 1st Congressional District to defeat Ed. Whitfield, during the last election and I had the privilege to work with him in that endeavor several times and look forward to doing that again in 2010.
I believe I know a hard working progressive when I see one and Richard Dillon fits that bill period!
Richard I'm Damned proud you decided to write here. I noticed you called yourself a guest blogger on this site, but as far as I'm concerned you're a peer and have full rein to write what you want, when you want and I won't interfere. Hell I'm 70 years old and I want to leave this site in good hands.

John Edwards came to Columbus, Kentucky yesterday all because one young man believed it was possible. When John Edwards said he would come to the town that received the most votes on Eventful, Shawn Dixon decided that John Edwards would be coming to Columbus, Kentucky population 229. This young man went to work and spearheaded the effort to get John Edwards to come to Columbus. When all was said and done Columbus, Kentucky had more votes, on Evenful , than any city or town in the United States of America.
Thank you Shawn Dixon and thank you Columbus, Kentucky for showing the rest of us nothing is is impossible.

The Louisville Metro Democratic Club invited us to show video of the Democratic Fancy Farm speakers and gave Ditch Mitch Kentucky the opportunity to show some Ditch Mitch video and talk about our efforts to unseat Senator Mitch McConnell.
Shawn Dixon gave one hell of a presentation. The video of Shawn is below. I am so proud of Shawn I'm going to ask him if he would consider me being his unofficial Grandfather. This is the young man that that spearheaded the effort to get John Edwards to come to Columbus, Kentucky.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The tiny town of Columbus, Kentucky might only boast a population of 229, but it’s beating out mega cities like Los Angeles and Dallas for the privilege of hosting former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards for a special visit to discuss his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Edwards committed to answer questions in “whatever city or town has the most demanders” on www.eventful.com, a Web site where users petition bands, artists and — increasingly — presidential candidates to appear in their hometowns.
Over 1,600 users have so far “demanded” Edwards visit Columbus, putting this rural Western Kentucky community ahead of several major metropolitan areas. They have been encouraged by former resident Shawn Dixon, who started an online push for Columbus to highlight rural communities.
“Too often rural America is left out of the debate on important policy issues,” said Dixon, who pushed the contest on blogs and social networking sites. The effort has led people in other rural communities to support the possible visit.
“Columbus has a population of 229, but really our constituency is the tens of millions of Americans who live in small towns across the country,” said Dixon, who says he is a Democrat.
The month-long contest closes Wednesday, after which the Edwards campaign will announce the winner. Local residents have been trying to sweeten the deal, posting comments on the site highlighting the neighboring town’s bed and breakfast and hair cuts that “cost less than $10, including tip.”
