Nov. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts, son of the Christian school's televangelist founder, resigned yesterday following accusations that he used school funds for personal use.
Roberts's resignation was effective yesterday, according to a statement from George Pearsons, chairman of the Board of Regents, posted on the school's Web site. The Tulsa, Oklahoma- based university's regents will meet starting on Nov. 26 to discuss a replacement for Roberts, 59.
Three university professors filed a lawsuit last month against Richard Roberts. They allege that he used the school's aircraft for a $29,411 trip to the Bahamas and spent school money to buy horses for his children, according to John Swails, one of the plaintiffs.
The university was founded in 1963 by Roberts' father, evangelist Oral Roberts. The 5,700-student school emphasizes the Christian faith and encourages pupils to become ``servant- learners,'' according to a mission statement.
"I love the students, faculty, staff and administration, and I want to see God's best for all of them,'' Richard Roberts said in his resignation letter, according to the statement on the Web site.

Pike County, Kentucky Residents Still Carry Water In Buckets.

Mark Twain is reported to have said that "when the end of the world comes I want to be in Kentucky, because there it will come 20 years later."
Mark Twain was almost right. I suggest that since some people in Pike County, Kentucky still have to carry their water in 5 gallon buckets, the world might come to an end 75 years later in Pike County Kentucky.
The benefit to this is the citizens of Pike County might be around 75 years longer than the rest of us, maybe, but they will still be packing their water in 5 gallon buckets if they can still carry that big of a load!
Reckon Preacher Ernie Fletcher has prayed for these folks, if so why wasn't the prayer answered?
I suggest  Preacher Ernie Fletcher didn't listen to the answer to his prayer, if he said one or if he got one.
There's a lot of Jesus talk, here in Kentucky, but not much evidence of his compassion!!!!!

Southern Baptist Question Prevailing Global Warming Science And Listen To “War Monger In Chief” George W. Bush VIA Satllite.

The Southern Baptist Convention's public policy chief says that if John Kerry had defeated President Bush in 2004, Hillary Clinton would now be the Supreme Court's chief justice and another liberal would have replaced Sandra Day O'Connor.
The Reverend Richard Land told Baptists at their annual meeting, "We would have been stuck with a six-to-three pro-abortion majority on the Supreme Court. Thank God we voted our values."

Southern Baptists approved a resolution on global warming Wednesday that questions the prevailing scientific belief that humans are largely to blame for the phenomenon and also warns that increased regulation of greenhouse gases will hurt the poor.

George W. Bush speaking to the convention via sattilite:
“I appreciate the fact that Southern Baptists understand the importance of fair-minded and impartial judges to our democracy. (Applause.) I was proud to nominate John Roberts and Sam Alito to the Supreme Court. (Applause.) And I will continue to nominate good judges who will interpret the law and not legislate from the bench.” (Applause.)

This is the same Southern Baptist Convention that voted June 20th, 1995 to adopt a resolution renouncing its racist roots and apologizing for its past defense of slavery. The racism resolution marked the denomination's first formal acknowledgment that racism played a role in its founding and that was just 12 years ago.

During its June 1998 convention the SBC amended the Baptist Faith and Message for the first time since 1963. Among the changes were two highly significant alterations concerning the position of women in ministry and in marriage.
The role of pastor is reserved for men and therefore ordination of women should not be allowed.
Article VI, The Church. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.
The family is now termed "his" (the husband's) family. The wife must "submit herself graciously" to the husband's leadership, and must "respect her husband and…serve as his helper…."

Albert Mohler’s March 2, 2007 blog post sounds more like Adolph Hitler or Josef Mengele than something Jesus would say.
After reading Mohler’s article, it’s easy to understand why so many people have lost faith, in the Southern Baptist. Click here to read what Mohler had to say.

In 1999 in Calvert County, Maryland, a student had to change her plans to deliver her high school graduation prayer after a fellow student objected, with backing from the ACLU and the state attorney general's office.
During an allowed "moment of reflection," a Southern Baptist pastor named Douglas Myers began reciting loudly the Lord's Prayer. The entire audience joined in, creating an event that made national headlines.
This week, the 57-year-old Myers is back in the news. On Wednesday a Florida court sentenced him to seven years in prison for repeatedly molesting a parishioner's grandson.
A television news report said Myers' congregation viewed him as a trusted pastor, but his arrest came as no surprise to some who crossed paths with him in a ministry spanning 30 years.
"I always knew he would get caught up with," said Charles Canida. "It finally happened in Florida." Canida was a deacon at Concord Baptist Church in Russellville, Ala., when "Pastor Doug," as he insisted on being called, arrived about five or six years ago. Canida said he was almost immediately suspicious. Read entire article.

HAMILTON - Only God might know the truth, but a Butler County judge must try to find it in a complex battle involving money, music and ministry.
Probate Judge Randy Rogers on Friday finished hearing testimony in one of two court cases that relatives filed against Darlene Bishop, international televangelist and co-pastor of Solid Rock Church.
The nondenominational church is home to a 4,000-member congregation and a giant Jesus statue along Interstate 75 in Monroe.
The family is feuding over the legacy of Bishop's brother, chart-topping songwriter Darrell "Wayne" Perry.
Perry, 55, formerly of Hamilton, died of throat cancer in 2005.
Bishop's book, "Your Life Follows Your Words," says God "cured" Perry's cancer. Bishop has said she believed the disease was in remission when she wrote that.
Bishop is accused of hastening Perry's demise in a wrongful death lawsuit that will proceed later this year in Butler County Common Pleas Court. Read entire article.
