The movie "Prayers For Bobby" is currently free on Comcast "On Demand" and free to watch online.
Many of us in the "straight world" have seen this play out over and over again. Here in Kentucky, especially rural Kentucky, Gays seem to be treated as sinners with a disease that can be treated or cured and, in too many cases, they are treated with disdain, by the so called Christian community.
Those of us that have Gay family members know full well that being Gay is not a choice and some of us "straights", that are observant, knew the family member was Gay before he or she did.
It amazes me that so called Christians, here in rural Kentucky can be so cruel to our Gay brothers and sisters. It seems that some of my Christian brothers and sisters forget what Jesus had to say about our neighbors: And one of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, "What commandment is the foremost of all?" Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' "The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." (NAS, Mark 12:28-31)
This is a movie worth watching and I hope my straight friends take the time to watch this movie and reexamine their beliefs about our gay brothers and sisters.
