The Eight Democratic women in the House of Representatives, who served with Mike Weaver, endorsed him today for State Treasurer. After citing his record of support for women, each has agreed to endorse his run for State Treasurer. As a legislator, Mike Weaver was a strong advocate for women’s issues, including pay equity and working for stronger protections against violence. Today, the women in the House who served with Weaver made their endorsement official because of Col. Mike Weaver’s leadership ability and proven record. “We know he will continue to champion similar issues as State Treasurer,” said Rep. Mary Lou Marzian, D- Louisville.
The endorsements came from: Rep. Ruth Ann Palumbo, Democrat, Lexington; Rep. Kathy Stein, Democrat, Lexington; Rep. Robin Webb, Democrat, Grayson; Rep. Susan Westrom, Democrat, Lexington; Rep. Tanya Pullin, Democrat, South Shore; Rep. Dottie Sims, Democrat, Horse Cave; Rep. Carolyn Belcher, Democrat, Owingsville, and Rep. Mary Lou Marzian, Democrat, Louisville.
While Rep. Joni Jenkins has made no official endorsement as Vice-Chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party, she noted that she is proud of Weaver’s stance on issues that impact women.
“Mike Weaver has always been a strong Democratic leader, someone that we could go to and talk with about issues of importance to us and we were proud to offer our endorsements,” added Representative Mary Lou Marzian.
“I am so proud of the endorsements of these great women, they are some of the best and brightest leaders in Kentucky,” said Mike Weaver. “I look forward to working with them as Kentucky’s next State Treasurer,” he added. Mike Weaver is the proud father of four daughters and has been married to his wife Lois for over 46 years. He is retired from the United States Army and owns a small business.
