Yesterday Joe Cain, Director, National Affairs & Political Education for the Kentucky Farm Bureau, was on the Francene radio talk show. Joe seemed to be worried about about the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) for regulating greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act. Joe seemed to think this could end up with "Cow Tax" that would be very costly to Kentucky farmers.

The hysteria may be premature, however. The E.P.A. indeed issued an “advanced notice of proposed rulemaking” this summer that called for public comments on the idea of regulating greenhouse gas emissions from cars, as well as “stationary sources” — which, yes, would include cows and other livestock.

A "Cow Tax" personally I don't believe it will happen, but I do believe Kentucky farmers will continue to rake in their subsidies $2.12 billion from 1995 to 2006, according to EWG.
I don't understand why Francene didn't ask Joe Cain why he seems to supports farm subsidies and seems to support farmers getting paid not to plant and subsidies to people that don't farm. It seems to me that some farmers want cheap labor do do their work, government hand outs and then gripe about not getting enough, and Senator Mitch McConnell Friend of Farm Bureau is busting his ass to give them what they want.
It's too bad Radio Show Host like Francene don't ask the hard questions when they get the chance. Here's hoping she just didn't know to ask these things. I guess time will tell.
