It's tough being a progressive here in rural Kentucky and I simply can't imagine how tough it would be if I were progressive and gay. I guess that's why so many of the gay's that I know move away from here, Hardin County, Kentucky, and go to more progressive areas of the country and that's a shame.
I wish I could go to Vermont and shake the hand of every legislator that voted to override Governor Jim Douglas' veto and legalize gay marriage in Vermont, making it the first state to recognize same-sex marriage through legislative action, but I can't. So I'll do the next best thing and say thank you for standing up for what you know is right.
Kudos to Vermont.
