No Battery Plant For Hardin County, Kentucky. Mitch McConnell And Brett Guthrie Couldn't Deliver!

Senator Mitch McConnell, Senator Jim Bunning, Geoff Davis, Brett Guthrie, Hal Rogers and Ed Whitfield opposed the $787 billion stimulus that would fund projects like the battery plant. Well they won and Kentuckians lost.
Of course Anne Northup won't be without a high paying government job, Senator Mitch McConnell took care of her. Some folks believe Senator Mitch McConnell traded the Battery plant off to get his pal Anne Northup a plum job on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. Thanks Mitch!

WASHINGTON — In this, the year Democrats and Republicans alike rallied behind promises of greater government transparency, finding the Kentucky congressional delegation's federal funding requests for pet projects, or "earmarks," is a labyrinthine process that can try the patience of even the most intrepid watchdog.

Take the case of U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Somerset, whose 22-page request is buried several pages deep on his Web site. Readers must click on the "On the Issues" tab, then "Economic Development and Job Creation" and plow through an eight-paragraph biography that starts with his high school graduation in 1955 before being rewarded with a link to his 103 earmark requests. The document is downloaded sideways and is not searchable.

Last night Sen. Sherrod Brown returned from his mother's memorial services to cast the decisive 60th vote needed to send the $787 billion economic stimulus plan to President Barack Obama.
Many of us remember when Senator Sherrod Brown was running for a seat in the House of Representatives and he pledged not to accept his free government health care until everyone in the United States had the same luxury. (He's still waiting). This guy is a leader!

It's a shame that Kentucky's Mitch McConnell, Jim Bunning, Ed Whitfield, Brett Guthrie, Geoff Davis and Hal Rogers have decided  to walk in goose step  lockstep with the Republican  Minister of  Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, Rush Limbaugh, rather than reach their full potential as leaders like Sen. Sherrod Brown.

Senator Mitch McConnell the gift that keeps on giving. The folks that voted to put Senator Mitch McConnell back in office last year have done more for the National Democratic Party than they will ever know. With Senator McConnell receiving so much face time on national TV and folks all across the country seeing how stupid he is and how he just doesn't get it when it comes to regular folks is solidifying the National Democratic base, to the extent many of us never thought possible, and I suggest that after the 2010 election we will see enough Democratic Senators elected to make Senator Mitch McConnell totally irrelevant.
Let's hope Mitch's inspiration trickles down to the Kentucky Democratic Party and they get serious about contesting every Congressional seat in the state, including Kentucky's 1st Congressional District and defeating Senator Jim Bunning. I suggest to do anything less could be considered backward, just like the rest of the country currently views us and reaffirm our irrelevance in national politics.

I first met Richard Dillon in Columbus Ky. when John Edwards came to that small town as a result of Shawn Dixon's efforts. I had been reading Dillon's post for a long time before that and was impressed as to how good this young man could write and his never ending zeal to change Kentucky for the better. Richard worked tirelessly in the 1st Congressional District to defeat Ed. Whitfield, during the last election and I had the privilege to work with him in that endeavor several times and look forward to doing that again in 2010.
I believe I know a hard working progressive when I see one and Richard Dillon fits that bill period!
Richard I'm Damned proud you decided to write here. I noticed you called yourself a guest blogger on this site, but as far as I'm concerned you're a peer and have full rein to write what you want, when you want and I won't interfere. Hell I'm 70 years old and I want to leave this site in good hands.

Yesterday after hearing about the stunt Ed. Whitfield pulled (read the back story here) I decided to go to Lexington and ask KET if I could videotape the Heather Ryan and the no show Ed. Whitfield debate. I arrived at the Lexington KET facility early but the very nice lady at the desk was busy receiving complaints from Heather Ryan supporters. When the nice lady behind the desk caught up with her calls I asked her if I could video tape the so called debate and she directed me to a very nice young man by the name of Todd. Todd told me I couldn't video tape the debate but I could shoot some 'b' roll before the debate. This was very disappointing news because I was looking forward to shooting video of the debate and uploading it to youtube good audio and all, if you know what I mean. Well there I was Lexington about 90 miles from home frustrated and pissed all at the same time when I received a call telling me that Heather Ryan was going to hold a press conference at 6:30pm right there at KET. So I got my video equipment ready, Heather shows up, but no press just me a lowly blogger with a video camcorder. I video taped the press conference( the video is below and the audio ain't bad for a dumb ass hillbilly). Right after the press conference, with no press, Heather Ryan started getting prepared for the debate and I was allowed into the debate area to shoot some 'b' roll but was ushered out just before the debate started to a conference like room with a big overhead projector and I watched the so called debate there. After the so called debate I started receiving calls that the audio of the so called debate had dropped off just before the so called debate started. I believed the callers but the audio at KET was perfect. I know because I had just watched the debate there. Two callers from Kentucky's 1st District told me the audio dropped off exactly when the so called debate started. Now this was really getting hard to believe but my wife recorded the so called debate and I knew I would be able to check it out when I got home. When I got home I played the tape and sure enough the audio seemed to drop off exactly when the so called debate started. Still I found that hard to believe so I captured the video to my editing system and looked at it very close and was amazed. Sure enough the audio dropped of exactly when the so called debate started. It was then that I knew I would have to prove this beyond doubt and I believe I have. I put together a short video of footage of just before the debate and just after the debate started and did not enhance the sound and then screen captured the audio levels of the short video. The photo of the audio levels is below and the video is just below that. Proof positive. Do I believe this was an accident? Hell no I don't!
