The Current Economic Crisis And What The Future Holds For The American Worker.

Opinion:
Today March 9, 2009 unemployment is at 8.1% and already people are lining up by the thousands for the few available jobs. While most of us believe this is bad corporate America and the Chamber of Commerce are salivating at the opportunity to play workers against each other to obtain cheaper labor. Workers in the private sector have watched their health care benefits dwindle or disappear and for the most part don't have traditional pension plans. They've lost equity in their homes and watched their 401k' s drop like a rock and are desperate to keep their jobs, even if it means a cut in pay.
The Future
So what's in store for the American worker? I believe I know what's in store, but I hope I'm wrong, however I wouldn't be taking the time to blog this if I didn't feel the American worker will be working longer hours for less benefits and money for a long time to come. So you might ask how do I reach this conclusion? Read on and then feel free to challenge my thoughts with a comment.

George W. Bush was handed a gift by his greedy rich banking and Wall Street pals, during the last days of his administration. They had drove the American economy into the ground and to George W. Bush this was a gift from heaven. This was George W. Bush's opportunity to spend more money on his greedy Wall Street and Banking pals, more money than most of us can imagine leaving the next President with and empty til and a huge national debt.
It was a done deal that Barack Obama was going to win the election and the right wing wanted to make sure Barack Obama didn't have any money for social programs or anything else for that matter, but Barack Obama managed to get his Economic Recovery Plan Stimulus Package passed without any help from Republicans in the House of Representatives and minimum help from the Republicans in the Senate. Barack Obama won and the right wing neo cons lost and now the right wingers are doing their best to divide us by waling about their tax dollars being spent on what they call dead beats facing foreclosure when in fact they are the very ones that got us into this mess. It's been a long time since the right wing neo cons have been defeated, exposed and put in their place and I'm so happy I got to see it. Emerson once said, "If you do can a thing once, you can do it twice. If you can do it twice, you can make a habit out of it."
The right wingers will go to any extent up to and including torture to get their way and this one victory is just that, one victory. We have the opportunity to make a habit of winning and I'm ready to be on the winning side for a change!

Last night Sen. Sherrod Brown returned from his mother's memorial services to cast the decisive 60th vote needed to send the $787 billion economic stimulus plan to President Barack Obama.
Many of us remember when Senator Sherrod Brown was running for a seat in the House of Representatives and he pledged not to accept his free government health care until everyone in the United States had the same luxury. (He's still waiting). This guy is a leader!

It's a shame that Kentucky's Mitch McConnell, Jim Bunning, Ed Whitfield, Brett Guthrie, Geoff Davis and Hal Rogers have decided  to walk in goose step  lockstep with the Republican  Minister of  Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, Rush Limbaugh, rather than reach their full potential as leaders like Sen. Sherrod Brown.
