Walmart Health Care And Pension Plans For Members Of Congress.

Walmart is America's largest private sector employer and they have a Health Care Plan for their employee's. The Democrats say they stand for the workers and The Republicans say they stand for the Free Market.
The Walmart Health Care Plan will satisfy the Democrats because it will allow the Democrats to not only to feel the pain of Walmart workers, it will allow them to experience it. The Republicans love the free market, and the Walmart Health Care Plan is about as free market as you can get. Same goes for the Walmart Pension Plan.
We know the members of Congress would never ask for a better Health Care, or Pension Plan than the folks working for America's largest private sector employer, to do so would be immoral.
It's for the above reasons I'm requesting my Congressman Brett Guthrie and Senator Mitch McConnell to do what's morally right and introduce a Bill to change their current Health Care, and Pension Plans to mirror the Health Care and Pension Plans of Americas largest private sector employer, Walmart.
How about it Brett and Mitch are you up to doing what's morally right? Of course if you take my suggestion, your free market Republican friends in Congress, will let you know they are special people and deserve their government anti free market fringe benefits.

Republican Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-2) Is Misleading His Constituents About Health Care Reform

Is it any wonder Republicans are angry about Health Care Reform. I would be to if I believed the B.S. Republican Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-2) is spewing when he says, "One nonpartisan analyst predicts that 114 million Americans will lose their coverage under H.R. 3200." That's a quote from a letter I received from Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-2) after going to his website, filling out a Health Care questionnaire and later calling his office and politely expressing my views on Health Care. When I read the letter I couldn't believe my eyes. My, my Congressman you ain't gonna be happy when Single Payer is debated on the House floor.

When Congressman Brett Guthrie speaks of, one nonpartisan analyst, he is speaking of the Lewin Group. Well guess who owns the Lewin Group? UnitedHealth Group. Now ain't that a joke.

The CEO of UnitedHealth Group is Stephen J. Hemsley and he is paid handsomely, in 2008, according to Forbes, he raked in $3,241,042.00. Click here so see more Health Care CEO gaudy compensation.
Of course Congressman Brett Guthrie is getting his share of money from Insurance and Health related folks to the tune of $225,650 and that doesn't include $41,062 from lobbyist, according to Open Secrets. See the screen shot from Open Secrets at the end of this post.
Is it possible Republican members of Congress are intentionally misleading their constituents to fire up their base? If so then they and they alone should be held responsible when or if someone gets hurt at one of these Town Hall Meetings! Of course Congressman Brett Guthrie don't have to worry about that because his Town Hall meetings, are done by telephone.

No Battery Plant For Hardin County, Kentucky. Mitch McConnell And Brett Guthrie Couldn't Deliver!

Senator Mitch McConnell, Senator Jim Bunning, Geoff Davis, Brett Guthrie, Hal Rogers and Ed Whitfield opposed the $787 billion stimulus that would fund projects like the battery plant. Well they won and Kentuckians lost.
Of course Anne Northup won't be without a high paying government job, Senator Mitch McConnell took care of her. Some folks believe Senator Mitch McConnell traded the Battery plant off to get his pal Anne Northup a plum job on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. Thanks Mitch!

Mr. Guthrie You and your family have good health care paid for by folks like me and folks like you don't seem to care about us out here in the private sector. You see I worked at a place for over 35 years and I was promised health care benefits as part of my retirement package, but guess what, they broke their promise and now unlike you I'm left holding the bag. People like you had the power to stop corporations from breaking promises to their employees, but they didn't. So why should I believe you have my interest in mind now?

Dave Adkisson Give Me A Break!

Dave Adkisson, President Kentucky Chamber of Commerce had a letter published in the Hardin County News Enterprise, click here to see it or read it at the bottom of this post. David Adkisson thanked Brett Guthrie (KY-2) for standing up to the The Employee Free Choice Act and called it dangerous legislation. In his letter he says " Because unions would know who had and had not signed a card, workers would be exposed to unrelenting pressure and coercion.  Exposing workers to this harassment may seem unfair, but the goal of this legislation isn’t fairness – it’s getting workers to sign cards and begin paying union dues".
Dave Adkisson seems to indicate he's worried about the American worker when in reality, I feel, he, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the United States Chamber of Commerce want cheap labor for those they represent. I understand that, but when Dave Adkisson seems to indicate he's standing up for the American worker I feel he's being deceptive to say the least. It seems to me they Dave Adkisson, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the United States Chamber of Commerce want to instill fear of labor Unions into the hearts of the American worker, when in fact there is know reason to fear them at all. This is the same tired old fear tactic used by the GOP to keep us occupied with fear while their pals on Wall Street were stealing us blind.
So what does the Chamber of Commerce really stand for?

• According to this author they stand for cheap foreign labor.
• They remain the staunchest advocate of the benefits of the NAFTA! Might I ask benefits for for who?
• They gave us 15 reasons to support DR-CAFTA. 
• The Kentucky Chamber opposes state and local wage mandates that go beyond
  federal requirements. When state or local governments attempt to mandate wage
  and benefit thresholds, safety regulations or additional standards that go beyond
  what is necessary to provide basic, uniform protections, the added cost
  of doing business — and the lack of focus on the real issues that could make a
  difference – decreases Kentucky’s overall competitiveness, particularly with our
  border and peer states.
• The Kentucky Chamber supports legislation that repeals the employer mandate to withhold union dues from an employee’s salary.
• The Kentucky Chamber is firmly opposed to any local or statewide expansion of public employee collective bargaining. The expansion of public employee collective bargaining can lead to inefficient administration of public duties, increased costs to taxpayers and an increased likelihood of interruptions of essential government services.

I suggest the video below is really what the Chamber of Commerce believes in and the American worker will never be able to work cheap enough or hard enough to suit them.

Sen. Sherrod Brown Cast The 60th Vote! Obama Can Sign The $787 Billion Economic Stimulus Plan Into Law. Yes!!

Last night Sen. Sherrod Brown returned from his mother's memorial services to cast the decisive 60th vote needed to send the $787 billion economic stimulus plan to President Barack Obama.
Many of us remember when Senator Sherrod Brown was running for a seat in the House of Representatives and he pledged not to accept his free government health care until everyone in the United States had the same luxury. (He's still waiting). This guy is a leader!

It's a shame that Kentucky's Mitch McConnell, Jim Bunning, Ed Whitfield, Brett Guthrie, Geoff Davis and Hal Rogers have decided  to walk in goose step  lockstep with the Republican  Minister of  Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, Rush Limbaugh, rather than reach their full potential as leaders like Sen. Sherrod Brown.

Senator Mitch McConnell the gift that keeps on giving. The folks that voted to put Senator Mitch McConnell back in office last year have done more for the National Democratic Party than they will ever know. With Senator McConnell receiving so much face time on national TV and folks all across the country seeing how stupid he is and how he just doesn't get it when it comes to regular folks is solidifying the National Democratic base, to the extent many of us never thought possible, and I suggest that after the 2010 election we will see enough Democratic Senators elected to make Senator Mitch McConnell totally irrelevant.
Let's hope Mitch's inspiration trickles down to the Kentucky Democratic Party and they get serious about contesting every Congressional seat in the state, including Kentucky's 1st Congressional District and defeating Senator Jim Bunning. I suggest to do anything less could be considered backward, just like the rest of the country currently views us and reaffirm our irrelevance in national politics.
