From Bluegrass Report March 21, 2006
This morning, Jim Navolio, the Executive Director of the
Kentucky Equine Education Project
(KEEP), e-mailed me about last night's show and during a back and forth
about the issue (I am not a member of KEEP and have only met Jim in passing a
few times) he mentioned that Hack had first approached KEEP in the summer of
2004 about being hired to do its public relations work, but was not selected.
Navolio says that when this history is raised, Hack's talking point is
that he didn’t know KEEP had a gambling agenda at the time and he is glad they
didn’t hire him. He didn't know? Come on. He bid on (and lost) a multi-million
dollar p/r job yet now says he didn’t know it this involved gambling.
Apparently, Hack was the only person in Kentucky who didn’t know.
John-Mark Hack is president of
Global Development Partners,
and chairman of the Say No To Casinos
campaign.
Mr. Pence, Your report about the head of the FAMILY FOUNDATION may have some validity as far as you have stated he applied for the job at KEEP.
If you are listening to Jim Navolio, then you are listening to the biggest hack in Frankfort politics. J.N. was hired to carry the water for KEEP, but after two years of unsuccessful lobbying the KEEP ISSUE, was replaced. He may still work for KEEP BUT NOT, AS HEAD OF KEEP.
I worked under Jim Navolio and I will say he has few original ideas of his own and is a poor manger of people. He is the brother in law to Jim and Howard Grey of Grey Construction in Lexington and Glasgow, KY.
Jim Grey is also vice Mayor of Lexington.
Wonder why he does not work for his rich relatives, after all he is a brother in law and they are family.
Here are some facts that Jim N. may not have reported to you MR. Pence.
THE NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE REPORTS THAT GAMBLING IS THE NUMBER ONE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE IN THE UNITED STATES.
CHILDREN FROM COMPULSIVE GAMBLING FAMILIES HAVE TWO TIMES THE SUICIDE RATE AS CHILDREN THAT ARE NOT IMPACTED BY COMPULSIVE GAMBLING.
There are many more. But, you will not hear them from Jim N. or anyone at KEEP. All I see in this report by Jim N. is a way to trash the head of the FAMILY FOUNDATION and make it appear there is some sinister move behind their work.
That is just not true.
Jim Pence are you carrying water for Steve Beshear? Knowing you, I would think not, but your post does give support to the KEEP proposal and in a way that is not substantive. It's another plant by KEEP.
I catch CAT FISH in ELKHORN CREEK CAUSE THEY SWALLOW MY BAIT HOOK, LINE AND SINKER.
I just wanna say!
