What’s Next For Senator Larry Craig? A Fat Gaudy Pension And Full Healthcare Coverage.

Senator Larry Craig has resigned and the Senator and will now be punished by receiving a fat, gaudy government pension with full health care coverage.
It sure would be nice if someone in Congress would stand up, say this is not right and introduce a bill to take Larry Craig's benefits away. This is not a Democrat or Republican issue, it's a moral and a perception issue. If this pervert is allowed to collect a gaudy pension, paid for with our tax dollars, how can members of congress, both Democrats and Republicans, expect their constituents to have respect for any of them?
If Congress doesn't act to take Larry Craig's gaudy benefits away, one could reasonably conclude that Larry Craig has something on them.

I love your blog and am a Demo, but I really disagree with you on this one. Craig may be everything you say, but he deserves his pension just as much as Patton did for his escapades. Had Craig been convicted or a felony, then I might feel differently but he's served his constituency over the years and should receive his pension.
One thing I loathe about Republicans is their inability to see the forest for the trees and tunneled vision view of the world, this blog entry has the same feel to me.

Mansfield, I can see the compassion of your post and you have every reason to feel that Craig should receive his retirement.

The regs do allow that , at this time,
however, perhaps that regulation was considered and voted on, prior to the epidemic of moral instability among some members of Congress.

My contention is: When a public servant acts in the manner this man did, in a public toilet,in an airport, does not deserve to be rewarded.

There should be some amendment in the Congressional oversight that says you can't draw your retirement if you are convicted of a felony or an lude act in public.

This man, did not just inherit his sexual pleasures in Minnesota . . .If truth be known, and all of it will never be known, this has been a pattern of behaviour for a long time, but is just now being made public because a Congressman could not control his Libido in a public place.

That is disgraceful and if Craig is disgraced by this action, then he has not a single person to blame but himself.

Jim..I guess I am a bit 'tainted' in this discuss because I am a public servant and we take a lot of unjust bashing for making that career choice. I know you know I don't condone Craig, I think he's sleazy, and I wanted to puke watching his resignation speech. At the same time, I don't think this one action warrants him forfeiting his retirement. Just my opinion and I certainly can understand yours too.

It may seem I am trashing all people political, when I post. And, for that I apologize. There are many dedicated public servants in politics. I try to state that from time to time when I post.

The problem is the members that behave inappropriately, ( that is generous statement) place a "fog" around the good ones, as they do not seem to get any recognition, for the good work they do for the people.

This group needs to break the MUTUAL ADMIRATION SOCIETY. What we need more are members of the political body, to speak out with a loud and clear voice, their feelings on the issue and not just hide behind a tree hoping the "stuff flying thru the media will not hit them."

Did you ever hear of one DOCTOR reporting THAT a member of their profession is not qualified?

Or an Attorney that feels a member of his profession is dishonest and should be investigated.

The three Attorneys in Lexington, that stole MILLIONS FROM THEIR CLIENTS, on the drug suit, are perfect examples of this. It was dishonest greed and was reprehensible, but . . . who said so in their profession?

Accountability is very important, no matter what one chooses as their life vocation.
