Another title might be: The Pardon Pimp

Jim A. Stivers

I got to thinking the other day.

And, it wore me out.

But, I thought . . . our current Governor comes from an educated background. And to further support his ethics and principals he has accepted Jesus as his savior.

It is downright sickening to see Governor Ernie Fletcher profess to be "A MAN OF THE CLOTH" and yet make public statements that can easily be ascertained as a lie.

Isn't that one of the commandments?

I can't think of a profession that has higher moral principals than being a trained fighter pilot. This vocation demands the highest ethical standards. And reliability.

Chief Executive of a State.
He placed his hand, (on the well known bible) sworn to uphold the laws.

Shortly after gaining power he abandoned his ethics and religious commitment and decided a political career was the most important thing in life. How misguided.

For me:
If I were standing before a group asking them to vote for me, I certainly would not begin speaking falsehoods which can be absolutely traced to media exposure.

I mean, how can ones conscious allow you to keep a straight face.

In the long run, when his political career is over, I hope Ernie Fletcher will look back and see the inappropriate or unlawful actions he was involved in during his first two years in office.

And, now he ask those Democrats that crossed the line, in order for him to defeat Ben Chandler to vote for him again.

I don't think he will get much support. And, he can't win without a fair percentage of the Democratic vote.

If there is redemption . . . it will not be awarded to Ernie Fletcher by trying to lie and do anything possible to win. And it may not be all his fault, due to the ethical standards of his closest advisors. But it was Ernie Fletcher that made A CHOICE.

This Governor knows, EXACTLY, where REDEMPTION COMES FROM. I hope he bows his head, later and ask for redemption.

Then, maybe he can go back to doing what he has been trained to do. Treat the sick and injured and save a life.

And, if he does remain a minister of God, then perhaps one day, we can attend a church where THE REDEEMED Governor can stand in the pulpit and talk about right and wrong, and mean it.

A missed opportunity for this Governor.
An opportunity that will not come again. And he has no one to blame but himself.
