Leaked Pat Tillman Memo Warns of Bush Embarrassment

Just seven days after Pat Tillman's death, a top general warned there were strong indications that it was friendly fire and President Bush might embarrass himself if he said the NFL star-turned-soldier died in an ambush, according to a memo obtained by The Associated Press.
It was not until a month afterward that the Pentagon told the public and grieving family members the truth — that Tillman was mistakenly killed in Afghanistan by his comrades.
The memo reinforces suspicions that the Pentagon was more concerned with sparing officials from embarrassment than with leveling with Tillman's family.
In a memo sent to a four-star general a week after Tillman's April 22, 2004, death, then-Maj. Gen. Stanley McChrystal warned that it was "highly possible" the Army Ranger was killed by friendly fire.
"I felt that it was essential that you received this information as soon as we detected it in order to preclude any unknowing statements by our country's leaders which might cause public embarrassment if the circumstances of Cpl. Tillman's death become public," McChrystal wrote.

Kentucky Democratic Senator and ex Democratic Governor Julian Carroll has endorsed Bruce Lunsford as his choice for governor. The same Bruce Lunsford that endorsed the current Republican Governor Ernie Fletcher, in 2003 and may have cost the Democratic Party the Governors seat.
This is really beginning to smell.
I suggest it’s time for the other Democratic candidates for governor to denounce Bruce Lunsford’s candidacy for governor, like Jonathan Miller did!

Senator Mitch McConnell, a man with a questionable military record, votes against funding the troops!!!!!
"We've spoken the words the American people wanted us to speak," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). "There must be a change of direction in the war in Iraq, the civil war in Iraq. The Senate and the House have held together and done what we've done. It's now in his corner to do what he wants to do."

Saudi King Abdullah On U.S. In Iraq: “illegitimate foreign occupation”

"In beloved Iraq, blood is flowing between brothers, in the shadow of an illegitimate foreign occupation, and abhorrent sectarianism threatens a civil war," said Abdullah, whose country is a U.S. ally that quietly aided the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal stood by the king's remarks Thursday, implying at some points that Iraq's Shiite-led government doesn't have the legitimacy to approve the U.S. presence.
"If that country had chosen to have those troops, then it's something else. But any military action that is not requested by a specific country -- that is the definition of occupation," al-Faisal told reporters.
